TIME TO TAKE ACTION

LBX :

Dear Members of MW Forum:

A very fair, reasonable and sensible offer to settle the outstanding disputes between MW Admin and the Forum Members have been rejected by MW Admin.

They were given until 9:50pm ET to respond, and they chose not to do so.

Therefore, there is no reason for us to continue this discussion with them any further.

It is time to take this issue public as a first step to making it a News Corp. issue.

Can everyone go to the trouble of posting a brief synopsis of the incident in their own words, and then post an alert about what happened here on other Forums.

The best place to start are other Murdoch owned Newspapers and Websites, followed by their direct competitors.

Let's get some Mainstream Media Journalists (like CNBC) interested in this story.

Get set.... GO!

Pay particular attention to publicizing this with websites that advertise with Marketwatch.

Raise the issue with the Public Relations and Investor Relations Department of MW Advertisers.

Note :

MW Admin's honesty, integrity and impartiality is greatly in doubt because they came back with a solution that involved them administering a ballot that is wide open to rigging and scamming.

Scared MW admin and LBX

MarketWatch-Admin Mar 11, 2009 8:31 PM

I tell you what. You start the topic in the MW Censorship group and put it to a vote. I'll review it over a 24-hour period. If the vast majority of Community members demand an apology for my use of the word "frag," then I will publicly apologize in that forum. So far, you are the only one that I've heard from regarding this specific word.

And for the record, I didn't threaten anyone -- I warned. If you don't think folks should be warned before their accounts are deleted, then put that to a vote as well.

I am already reviewing the user/moderator process and have already removed the moderating ability on some members. I will continue to review them and yes, the whole process is under review -- as it had been before this whole flare up began.

Please give my Les my regards-

LBX Mar 11, 2009 8:34 PM

I am afraid I decline to put it to a vote that may be rigged under the existing system.

In my view, your actions and use of the term "frag" are certainly "inappropriate" and for many of your senior managers that date from the Vietnam era, in no certain terms, convey a threat of violence that is in violation of the law in every state of the nation.

You may dispute your intent (mens rea), but you have admitted to the threat (actus rea).

I am extending the deadline to 9:50pm ET for you to consider the above proposal, which I believe to be fair and reasonable settlement of all issues outstanding.

If I do not hear from you, I will act accordingly in the morning.

Let's hope Mr Murdoch do not have to deal with another Daily News Cartoon like incident.

MW Admin Apology

LBX Mar 11, 2009 7:05 PM

I take the above reply as your explicit admission that you have, in the past, used the word "frag" knowingly, intentionally, and deliberately against a member's account.Kindly confirm this fact. Please confirm that you are acting in your official capacity when you were doing so.Did you advise your immediate supervisor of your actions? If so, on what occasion? At what time? Date? How? Was the advice in writing? Did your supervisor consent to your actions?Would you be kind enough to give the MW community a definitive statement of how many times you have used the term, on what occasions, and in what context, and permit the MW committee to review your communications where this term or its like were used? What action do you intend to take to rescind the use of this term in the past? What amends do you propose to MW members who this, "inappropriate" and possibly illegal threat was issued to by you?

MarketWatch-Admin Mar 11, 2009 7:45 PM

I did use the the word "frag." Mea culpa. I have only used it once, and the account in question was deleted after several attempts to reconcile the user with our rules. He has since returned under new guises. Some deleted some left alone. If he doesn't abuse the system, his other guises will remain.I used the word frag because I had seen it in other posts so I thought it was in the language of the land. I was trying, unsuccessfully, to fit in. If the word "frag" has been deemed "threatening," I won't use it anymore. Done. Add it to your win column. And yes, I've alerted higher ups to what is going on in Community and I've also briefed them on my attempts to bring rampant abusers into the arms of peaceful nations. They are to date, supportive, but think I am wasting my time and should just delete the lot of them. So, I may very well be out of a job soon but I remain hopeful that Father Flanagan was right and that there are, "no bad boys."

LBX Mar 11, 2009 7:59 PM

Apologize in public to the MW community for your actions and MW Admin in general.Notwithstanding the generalities of the foregoing, specific apology to any and all persons in the MW community for:- use of the word "frag" by MW Admin.- pledge to never threaten another member / account again.- cease and desist from using "volunteers" as Forum Moderators pending a review and redesign of the system.Open a dialog with the community on the issue of "community moderators" who have abused the system for whatever reasons.Simultaneously, open a dialog with MW posters on what is the definition and operationalization of "inappropriate"content, how the system of post deletes work now, leading to a clear, transparant, fair, and credible system for the future.Furthermore, open a dialog leading to the reinstatement of deleted members damaged by your policies and actions including any "points they may have lost" plus any non monetary compensation deemed appropriate and fair by a joint MW Forum Management / MW Forum Members committee.Do this in public in the "MW Censorship" group by starting a new topic in the next 30 minutes (or by 9:30pm ET).I am afraid if I do not see affirmative action from you, your actions to date are:
a) highly "inappropriate"
b) most likely seen as unlawful
C) unbecoming of an employee of a major US Corporation.

I regret to inform you that time is of the essence because it is on my calendar and my intent to raise these issues with the CEO of Dow Jones in the Morning.

Sincerely, "

Haha, LBX,

Integral, Antiderivative and Riemann were all deleted. Integral was threatened with fragging then fragged but not the other two. Antiderivative and Riemann just went poof. Anger management is in order for the MW admin. The MW admin is not even able to refer to me by my mathematical names. Clearly this has become a personal hate mission for the MW admin.

LBX vs the "Marketwatch" Gestapo

MarketWatch-Admin Mar 11, 2009 6:03 PM

I threatened no one. I have warned repeatedly and unfortunately, left with little choice, had to delete some accounts. You may want to check out JDoe's Group on Censorship. There you will find a topic board on alternative Web sites. Maybe their moderators are less onerous.

LBX Mar 11, 2009 6:22 PM

The facts are as follows:MW Admin did use the word "frag" an account, rather than the neutral term of "delete".Denials of facts, failure to recognize fault, zero remorse is the sign of a sick mind. Be rest assured that this issue will not end with my departure, but will end with a more suitable career for you in one of the toughest job environments for a former administrator on a website.

MarketWatch-Admin Mar 11, 2009 6:59 PM

Now who's threatening who?Frag? Really? If it will help you sleep better tonight, I'll ban myself from using the word "frag." Neutrality is our hallmark.

"An appology on this site about how you have harassed posters would be appreciated. Otherwise some posters might not only follow your advise and move to alternative sites, but take with them evidence of the harassment with them and post it. Also here I make official request for contact information, telephone numbers, of the highest up responsible for this site. I am making copy of this page as evidence of my request, and all that has been said."

Haha, Baba <3

The MW admin is far too arrogant to apoligize.

LBX on MW and goodbye

Less than 10% of the MW posters generate over 80% of the content.

MW profits from the pageviews --- which means $$$ in an advertising starved business.

Why should we generate money for them with our content?

They can go do it themselves.

Let this be another money losing property for Murdoch, and let him make the decision to shut it down and toss the jokers that run it on the street.

Dear friends:

I think it is now 30.

That is the signal at the end of a telegraph.

The end.

I am quitting.

See you elsewhere.

LBX Mar 11, 2009 3:40 PM

What is wrong with this comment?

MarketWatch-Admin Mar 11, 2009 4:00 PM

LBX,

Please raise the level of discourse. Students use these boards. Please keep it clean.

LBX Mar 11, 2009 5:03 PM

A suggestion to raise the level of discourse is fine. However, censorship of comment for "inappropriate content" is wholly inappropriate. The content that is being deemed "inappropriate" is typical of what can be seen on prime time TV.

MarketWatch-Admin Mar 11, 2009 5:05 PM

You found me out LBX. My dream job is to be a network censor. Unfortunately, I can do nothing about the airwaves so I'll just have to settle on the Net-

LBX Mar 11, 2009 5:15 PM

If that is your intent to censor content rather than just deal with "inappropriate", it would be entirely appropriate for me to make public your intent to exercise sweeping powers of censorship.

I will, of course, as a matter of course, request the SEC to investigate your pattern of censorship and see if there is a correlation between your censorship and your stock trades, and whether you are in any way profiting from your activities.

Thom Calendra, the founder of Marketwatch, if you recall, was the target of such an investigation.

He is no longer with Marketwatch and settled the SEC case with a rather large payment.

MarketWatch-Admin Mar 11, 2009 5:39 PM

LBX, after reading your many posts, I thought you more than anyone would appreciate sarcasm. I get no pleasure in deleting comments.

LBX Mar 11, 2009 5:41 PM

I am afraid that the actions of your administration, including threats of "frag" to user's accounts, is at the least, "inappropriate" and more than likely to be unlawful.
