Joe “Loose Cannon” Biden Backpedals on Panicky Travel Advice
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs issued an apology Thursday for Vice President Joe Biden’s comments that he wouldn’t recommend taking a commercial flight or riding in a subway car because swine flu virus can spread in confined places.
“Obviously, if anybody was unduly alarmed for whatever reason, we would apologize for that. And I hope that my remarks and remarks of people at CDC and Secretary Napolitano have appropriately cleared up what he meant to say,” Gibbs said during the daily briefing at the White House.
Biden’s office later sought to clarify his remarks by saying he was only urging sick people to avoid planes and trains. Gibbs said President Barack Obama had not spoken to Biden about his remarks. In an interview Thursday on NBC’s “Today” show, Biden said, “I would tell members of my family — and I have — I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places now,” Biden said on NBC’s “Today” show.. “It’s not that it’s going to Mexico. It’s [that] you’re in a confined aircraft. When one person sneezes, it goes all the way through the aircraft. That’s me. …
“So, from my perspective, what it relates to is mitigation. If you’re out in the middle of a field when someone sneezes, that’s one thing. If you’re in a closed aircraft or closed container or closed car or closed classroom, it’s a different thing.”
A little more than one hour later, Biden rushed out a statement backing off. Biden’s remarks contradicted more restrained advice from President Barack Obama and the federal government — and the last thing the White House wants to do right now is shut down the airline industry and big-city subways out of mass panic.
Quote of The Day
"...this water boarding answer [at Obama's press conference] was weak, too, because he basically was saying, 'I'm not going to take shortcuts.' Well, if you have Shaikh Mohammed Khalid and he's about to blow up the Brooklyn Bridge, I really want you to take the shortcut."
Obama’s “Facts” Are More Spin Than Truth
“That wasn’t me,” President Barack Obama said on his 100th day in office, disclaiming responsibility for the huge budget deficit waiting for him on Day One.
It actually was partly him _ and the other Democrats controlling Congress the previous two years _ who shaped the latest in a string of precipitously out-of-balance budgets
And as a presidential candidate and president-elect, he backed the twilight Bush-era stimulus plan that made the deficit deeper, all before he took over and promoted spending plans that have made it much deeper still.
A look at some of his claims Wednesday:
OBAMA: “We began by passing a Recovery Act that has already saved or created over 150,000 jobs.” _ from news conference.
THE FACTS: This assertion is flawed on several levels. For starters, the U.S. has lost more than 1.2 million jobs since Obama took office, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Even if Obama’s stimulus bill saved or created as many jobs as he says, that number is dwarfed by the number of recent job losses
OBAMA: “Number one, we inherited a $1.3 trillion deficit. … That wasn’t me. Number two, there is almost uniform consensus among economists that in the middle of the biggest crisis, financial crisis, since the Great Depression, we had to take extraordinary steps. So you’ve got a lot of Republican economists who agree that we had to do a stimulus package and we had to do something about the banks. Those are one-time charges, and they’re big, and they’ll make our deficits go up over the next two years.” — in Missouri.
THE FACTS: Congress, under Democratic control in 2007 and 2008, controlled the purse strings that led to the deficit Obama inherited. A Republican president, George W. Bush, had a role, too: He signed the legislation.
Obama supported the emergency bailout package in Bush’s final months — a package Democratic leaders wanted to make bigger.

Quote of The Day
"Most polls show that more than 60 percent of Americans approve of the job President Obama is doing--about the same number, ironically, as approved of President Bush 100 days into his administration. That is to Mr. Obama's credit. However, [your humble correspondent] believes there is some doubt among those supporting the president. His waffling on the interrogation debate was weak. His appointments have generally been left-wing individuals, some of whom are crazy left like Rosa Brooks in the Defense Department. That kind of frightening ideological play will hurt the nation in the long run. So President Obama gets a C+ for leadership."
Texting Bus Driver Causes Mash Up
A San Antonio bus driver has been fired for rear-ending an SUV. Investigators say that the driver took his eyes off the road to text message on his cell phone. The incident happened last summer, but the amazing video was just released this week, following an investigation.

Use Photoshop Next Time, Less Carbon Emission and Panic
Using military resources for a cheap photo-op. Scaring the pants off the public. Exploiting 9/11 imagery for self-aggrandizement. Keeping secrets and causing mass panic.
Um, can you imagine if a GOP administration did this?
Can you imagine?!
Here is what President Obama said about Louis Caldera, the head of the White House Military Office, who conducted this disastrous “mission” when he appointed him:
The NYPost calls it “Plane Dumb:”
A better description: “Felony stupidity.”

Quote of The Day
"With polls showing nearly 60 percent of Americans do not want a witch hunt surrounding the Bush administration's anti-terror policies, President Obama now says he is not supporting an investigation. So the president is back to his original position. It's a shame he waffled earlier this week, giving the far left loons an opportunity to run wild. Most sane Americans know the controversy is absolutely destructive to America... I'm fed up, ladies and gentlemen. And I'm calling out these people. We are living in a very dangerous time. People want to kill us. The economy is brutal. And nuclear armed Pakistan is chaotic. Enough is enough with the anti-American garbage in this country."

Quote of The Day
"...there's little doubt most Americans believe, in rare cases, tough interrogation is necessary. If President Bush had ordered suspects interrogated by using just Army field manual rules, as Mr. Obama has done, and we suffered another attack after 9/11, I believe the president would have been impeached. And Patrick Leahy would have been leading the charge. This whole deal is a ghastly charade, with the New York Times throwing around words like 'gruesome' and 'brutal' to describe waterboarding in cold rooms. The dishonesty is staggering. So it is time for President Obama to stand up and show some leadership. No witch hunts, Mr. President."
Wednesday, April 22, 2009
Quote of Day
"Harsh interrogation methods approved by the president alone must be an option when an attack on America is likely. That's my point of view. Human lives are more important than the temporary discomfort of a captured terrorist. But the far left and much of the media disagree. And they often use smears to defend their point of view. If you support tough interrogation, you are a brutal human rights violator. However, if you support the left-wing view, you're an enlightened good person. ...There will be a backlash against that nonsense. And Mr. Obama should realize it."

Quote of The Day
"...there will come a time when Mr. Obama will have to say 'enough's enough' and hit back [at governments that insult us]. He has been directly insulted three times in less than a week by bad guys [iran, Venezuela and Nicaragua]. The president's policy of persuasion isn't working so far. He got little help from the Europeans. He'll get little help from Latin America. That's because failed leaders always blame the USA for their incompetence. That's a game that's been played since Harry Truman was president. These clowns can't solve their own problems so they blame us."

Obama finds the financial crisis hilarious?
Original Video - More videos at TinyPic
In an interview with 60 Minutes last night, Pres. Obama couldn't stop laughing while talking about the financial crisis. This led correspondent Steve Kroft to ask the president if he was "punch drunk...
Quote of The Day
"To his credit, President Obama has shut down any mechanism that would allow a witch hunt over harsh interrogations, but it's clear the president is playing to his committed left-wing base by sympathizing somewhat with the witch hunters. It is the president's job to protect Americans from harm. Like him or not, President Bush did that after 9/11. It remains to be seen whether Mr. Obama's anti-terror vision will be more effective."
The video CNN doesn't want you to see
Unhinged CNN reporter Susan Roesgen is on “vacation” after scrapping with Tea Party protesters last week, but her bosses are still hard at work trying to stifle Tea Party voices of dissent. As many of you know, CNN forced the takedown of behind-the-scenes video shot by Andrew Marcus of Founding Bloggers and posted to YouTube. Founding Bloggers has sent and published an open letter to the cable network requesting that the video (which has aired on other TV networks without retribution) be restored:
Another Republican booed by Tea Party protesters
This week the news the Tea Party-bashing MSM doesn’t want to report: Republicans who supported the bailouts, the stimulus, and tax increases are in just as much hot water as Democrats. I told you that California GOP chairman Ron Nehring and GOP Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger were booed in Sacramento and GOP Gov. Jon Huntsman was booed in Utah.
Now, see this.
At the Greenville SC Tea Party last night, via Palmetto Scoop, an estimated 3,000 people booed and heckled GOP Rep. Gresham Barrett, who supported both the trillion-dollar TARP and now supports the trillion-dollar porkulus package. The crowd blew air horns as he tried to speak. Do you think the politicians are getting the message yet? And do you think someone in the MSM might grow up, stop wallowing in sexual teabagging jokes, and report these newsworthy developments? The anger at reckless spenders in Washington is palpable, deep-seated, bipartisan, nationwide, and not going away:

The Obama DHS hit job on conservatives is real
Yesterday, Roger Hedgecock and the Liberty Papers posted an unclassified DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis report titled:
Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.
The “report” (PDF file here) was one of the most embarrassingly shoddy pieces of propaganda I’d ever read out of DHS. I couldn’t believe it was real.

TARP Recipients Will Be Required to Modify Loans
U.S. banks receiving federal aid through the Troubled Asset Relief Program will be required to modify mortgages for borrowers under the Obama administration’s Making Home Affordable initiative, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan said.
Barack Obama: Refi pitchman
On the radio this morning, I heard one of those pie-in-the-sky ads trying to convince people to sign up for some scheme to “improve their credit” and get a New Wii!
I swear, Barack Obama is going to be appearing in one of those commercials any day now.
Today, he’s your refi pitchman:
U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday hailed historically low interest rates, which he said could save homeowners who refinance their mortgages about $1600 a year.
“Rates are as low as they’ve been since 1971,” with the 30-year rate at 4.78%, Obama said after meeting with homeowners who have refinanced their mortgages recently. He attributed the decline in part to “extraordinary actions” taken by the Federal Reserve, and in part to actions taken by the administration.
Lower rates are prompting a flood of mortgage refinancings, which rose 88% in the past month, Obama told reporters. He estimated the average homeowner could pare hundreds of dollars a month, or an average of $1600 a year, by refinancing, and urged homeowners who haven’t refinanced to consider doing so.
“We hope that everybody takes advantage of it,” Obama added. He said between seven to nine million homeowners might qualify to refinance their mortgages at lower rates, putting more money in their pocket each month.

Obama’s shamnesty distraction
I’m not sure why Drudge is hyping the New York Times’ stenography piece on Obama’s plans to carry through on his promise to pitch a shamnesty bill. It’s not news. It’s a White House-planted distraction sourced mainly to La Raza/The Race lobbyist-turned-White House open borders czar Cecilia Munoz.
I pointed a few weeks ago to Obama’s meeting with Latino groups pushing for faster action on paving the pathway to citizenship for millions of illegal aliens. You know that the DREAM Act has been reintroduced in Congress. You know about the Obama Census plan to Leave No Illegal Alien Behind. And you know that Nancy Pelosi has been banging the “stop the unpatriotic raids” drum.
You also know that there is already a de facto shamnesty plan already in place — overseen by DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, who is eroding interior immigration enforcement. A West Coast ICE source tells me that agents have been ordered not to confiscate any more fake IDs from illegal aliens. ICE agents are feeling pressure to curtail workplace investigations. And illegal alien deportation fugitive Zeituni Onyango, aunt of the president, is going nowhere.
What is more newsworthy is the rising tide of voices standing up against lax immigration enforcement and its costs.
It’s not just conservative immigration enforcement activists.
It’s politicians who have to answer to their law-abiding constituents demanding to know why scarce resources should be allocated to illegal aliens over citizens. Like the five Democrats in Colorado who helped kill the state version of the DREAM Act. And the local health officials in northern California who are finally ending taxpayer subsidies for non-emergency illegal alien care.
It’s citizens who have suffered the loss of loved ones as a result of bloody sanctuary policies. Like Ray Tranchant, who testified on Capitol Hill last week on how failure of local and federal immigration officials to cooperate contributed to the death of his daughter and her best friend at the hands of a revolving door illegal alien drunk driver. Or like Daniella Bologna, who filed suit against the open-borders government of San Francisco on Tuesday:
Since the last immigration battle, more and more citizens and local and state officials have begun to recognize the ravages of lax enforcement. When Obama moves forward with his official shamnesty legislation, he better be prepared. We’ve been there. Done that. And the White House should know that we are ready to stop the Open-Borders Express again.

Obama’s weather czar: Goodbye, thermostat control. Hello, “climate geoengineering”
Photo source: Project Earth This is not a joke:
The president’s new science adviser said Wednesday that global warming is so dire, the Obama administration is discussing radical technologies to cool Earth’s air.
John Holdren told The Associated Press in his first interview since being confirmed last month that the idea of geoengineering the climate is being discussed. One such extreme option includes shooting pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun’s rays. Holdren said such an experimental measure would only be used as a last resort.
“It’s got to be looked at,” he said. “We don’t have the luxury of taking any approach off the table.” …At first, Holdren characterized the potential need to technologically tinker with the climate as just his personal view. However, he went on to say he has raised it in administration discussions.

Harvard Student Takes On Barney Frank Over Economy
Have you seen the video of a Harvard student challenging Barney Frank to take responsibility for his role in the subprime crisis? Watch.
His defensive bullying and sputtering and ranting about “right-wing attacks” speaks for itself.
So do the FOIA records that Judicial Watch obtained and released yesterday, which I linked yesterday. A reminder for Barney Frank (and ammunition for the next time a brave student wants to take him on again):
Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) and a conservative Harvard law student debated over how Frank should have handled his role as the House Chairman of the Financial Services Committee. Frank was at Harvard University for a speech at the Kennedy School of Government.
Frank said the student wasn't backing up his claims, invoking some laughter from the crowd, and the student told Frank he wasn't answering his question.

What Does a Bear Market Rally Look Like?
Will the fools that voted for Obama live to regret it?
"How is BO going to help me. We have (4) kids. So far we have paid for (2) to complete college. One in college now. One next year. But, excuse me we make over $250,000 a year. So we are rich. Please! We pay our mortgage and our credit cards every month. We don't owe anything but the mortgage. And we are going to be taxed more? Our 401K and other retirtements funds have tanked. I really don't want to support the "underpriviled" (welfare) anymore. I don't want to distribute my hard worked for money/saving with those unwilling to work. Everyone is not equal, but we all have equal opportunities. It's just what you do with your life. And the choices you make. "

Huckabee says his remark made McAuliffe 'break down and cry'
(CNN) – Mike Huckabee shot back at Terry McAuliffe late Thursday after the former DNC chairman and Virginia gubernatorial candidate accused Huckabee of encouraging voter suppression.
"As someone who served as a Governor for 10 years, I can say if these are the type of things Terry McAuliffe worries about and make him break down and cry, then he won't last 10 days as Governor much less four years and he doesn't deserve the people of Virginia's vote," Huckabee said in a statement to CNN.
At issue is a joke Huckabee made during a recent appearance on behalf of Bob McDonnell, the Republican candidate for governor.
Huckabee cracked that if McDonnell's supporters bump into someone who isn't planning on voting for the Republican, they should "let the air out of their tires and do not let them out of their driveway on election day."
The joke, a familiar one to those who followed Huckabee's presidential campaign, drew chuckles from the crowd.
McAuliffe, one of three candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for governor, sought to make the remark an issue on Thursday.
"There are no jokes to be made about denying people the right to vote in this country," he said in a statement. "It's not a laughing matter. This is a right that people fought and died for, so as public figures, we must be sure that we are setting the standard."

Reporters call Hillary Clinton, get phone sex line
(CNN) – Journalists who dialed in to a White House conference call Thursday hoping for a media-friendly reception got a far friendlier response than they were counting on.
Instead of hearing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and National Security Advisor Jim Jones on the other end laying out foreign policy and security threats, reporters were greeted by a recording on a phone sex line.
"Do you have any hidden desires? If you feel like getting nasty, then you came to the right place," said a suggestive-sounding woman
The White House says an aide merely mistyped the 800-dial in number — a mistake not likely to happen again.
